Sitrep (longstreet): Into the valley of Death

Into the Valley of Death rode the 600..

And so I get to have another demo game of Longstreet.  Previously we had tried an infantry only affair and had a close game with lots of high and lows. This time we opted for a Cavalry versus Artillery engagement so we could get use to the new unit types.  Using the suggested forces we got 84 points of reluctance cavalry charging 83 points of artillery of various guns types (ranging from long range but ineffective rifles to shorter ranged more nasty howitzers).  We got two games in  and switch sides for the second.  I was a little worry it might be a bit of a disaster with either artillery destroying cavalry before they made contact or the cavalry steamrollering over the guns without breaking a sweat.  Both games actually fantastic fun, the game and card mechanics really shined. The cavalry made it to the guns but on both accounts failed to force them back enough by finger tips.  Next up is an all arms engagement before hopefully jumping off into the full campaign.

...Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd...
...Boldly they rode and well,Into the jaws of Death..

Plunged in the battery-smoke, Right thro' the line they broke
...Just one battery more..

..Just one more..
..Then they rode back, but not     Not the six hundred...

Came thro' the jaws of Death, Back from the mouth of Hell
That is all for now. Thanks for stopping by.
